In 1984, RedMan's story all started with a question from the Secret Service's director of training. He turned to them because of their expertise in trauma protection for the martial arts because he needed training equipment that would give agents more realistic full force instruction and safety.
Through this connection and discussions with other top law enforcement trainers, they realised that the lack of equipment that was easily adaptable to situational training was the reason defensive tactics training was not extensively adopted. With this feedback, they created the first RedMan Suit, a revolutionary line of protective clothing (called for its vivid red colour) that was light, flexible and sanitizable while yet offering blunt trauma protection that allowed for more active training than had previously been possible. Defensive tactics stimulation training quickly gained popularity and became an essential part of the training process for those entering the fields of law enforcement and corrections.
